Tupelo Christmas Experience

Tupelo Christmas Experiance is coming. As a matter of fact, its this weekend! I am so excited to invite the community out for this event. Here is a snapshot into what the night will look like. This would be a 2 night outreach event that would minister to the community on several levels. Each event would work on a schedule, it would be set up so that everything runs at the same time, and would run several times a night. The event would start at 6:30 and run till 9:30. Each family can come and participate in all the events of the night, or you could just come to one or two then leave. Here are a few things that the two nights would include:

1. Kids Zone- This would include crafts, bounce house, face painting etc.
2. Living Outdoor Nativity Scene
3. Kids Movie Theatre (with real popcorn!)
4. Worship Times/Performances from local artists
5. Addmission would be a can of food per person to go to a local charity or our food bank to feed the poor.
6. We will have refreshments (cider, hot chocolate, cookies)

This is very “come and go”. No one will have to stay all 3 hours, but you are more than welcome to do that if you want to do so.

Friday night we will feature local band "the embrace" in concert from 8:30-9:30 in the worship center. Saturday night memphis worship leader "Jeremy Horn will be in concert from 8:00-9:30 in the worship center.

Here are a few key points for volunteers.
- Wednesday December 2nd there will be a volunteer meeting for ALL TCE volunteers. It will start at 7:30pm and go till 8:00pm in the worship center. Childcare will be available and please make an attempt to be there if you can.
- If you are a volunteer, please arrive each night at 6pm so that we can have plenty of time to get you where you need to be and answer any questions. Also, where your best “christmas” attire!

Why Christians Kids Rebel

Today Pastor Sam finished his series on Luke 15 with a message about "Why Christian Kids Rebel". Here are a few things that he said in the message today that are important for us to know.

Today, I mentioned how helpful it is for parents to know if they are dealing with a rebellious Christian young person or one who is actually not a believer.

Tim Kimmel, in his book, Why Christian Kids Rebel, suggests 5 questions to help parents discern if their son or daughter is regenerate:

1) Does he or she show remorse about doing things that break God’s heart?
2) Does he or she have a desire know God’s word, and are they convicted when exposed to it?
3) Does he or she long for and desire fellowship with other believers?
4) Does he or she want be used by God to strengthen the church, and reach out to lost?
5) Is he or she sensitive to the lost condition of people they go to school with or work alongside?

We will have the full sermon up later today. Have a great Monday!

93 degrees and a Cookout!

Tonight our church family and friends got together (in 93 degree weather!) and celebrated community! We had games for the kids, inflatable water-slide, zip-line, hotdogs and smores! We had so much fun and it actually turned out to not be that hot after all. Tonight is was a great visual for this passage...

1 Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.

Our church is a great place to be!

Also, an update for VBS, we had over 200 kids there today! There is so much excitement about what God can do in these little ones lives and hearts. Be praying for Friday, when we offer up an opportunity for these guys and gals to respond to what Jesus has done for us. Hopefully we will see lots of lives changed!

Here are a few pictures from the cookout tonight. More updates about VBS to come soon.

Thanks

VBS Day 1

Today we launched VBS at Hope Church. Our theme this year is "Boomerang Express". Come and trek through the Land Down Under this week and discover how it all comes back to Jesus! Friday, June 19 at 12:15 p.m., there will be a worship rally for parents in the Worship Center at Hope. Our attendance today was 229 which is more than we had last year on the last day!!!

Also don't forget about the Hope Church Family Picnic this Wednesday Night. On Wednesday, June 17 there will be no regular services and everyone is encouraged to attend the VBS family picnic at the lake behind the church. There will be hotdogs on "the barbie" (open fire) from 6—8:30 p.m. Please bring buns and chips. The church will provide hotdogs, condiments, drinks and smores. Enjoy fishing, zip line and waterslide (if weather permits). Children, don’t forget your towel. If weather
does not permit, we will move to the gym.

G'day Mate!
